Hospital billing for glucometer testingFrom: Warren Coffin, CLS CommentsMy institution, a small rural hospital in New Jersey, is in the process of having nursing (finally) take over POCT for glucometer testing (except for out patients who present to the lab). During discussions held in the lab about the pros and cons of nursing assuming this aspect of patient care, the question was broached that the income that glucometer testing generated for the lab would be lost. Our manager informed us that it was a moot point SINCE GLUCOMETER TESTING IS NOT REIMBURSABLE. Can someone point me to documentation which either refutes or supports my manager's point of view on this matter? Re: Medicaid Managed CareFrom: cheryl anderson Commentshi i own a company which specializes in billing for emergency physicians. i use to work for a local company in illinois which was sold to a national company (NES), you may have heard of them. they are not very well liked in the industry. needless to say, i no longer work for them and started my own company at the end of 1997. i have experience in over 15 states, mostle midwest to the east coast, but have a wealth of knowledge. there are not really any books geared towards ED reimbursement, particularly medicaid, but there are a few books on general ED reimbursemnt. my company's focus is on physician education, training and documentation, which impact billing. i would be happy to discuss doing an audit for you, if you are interested. i use to manage over 800,000 billed ER visits a year and a multitude of issues. please feel free to call upon me at 630-734-0200, ext. 227. i am located in illinois.....hope to hear from you. Chest Pain Center coding for emergency dept. physiciansFrom: swea@flash.net CommentsFacility this emergency physician group contracts with recently opened chest pain center. Our physicians refer patients to CPC, then another in the group may follow or discharge patient later. Problem is, can't find reliable information on how we bill or even IF we can bill since technically only one MD from a group can bill a patient for each encounter. Any information would be appreciated! Valerie Merritt, vmarlene@flash.net, or above email address. medical billingFrom: patti brockway CommentsI have recently started a medical billing service in minnesota. I am having a problem getting any accounts from physican. I thought that this would be a great business to start. Could some one please let me know what I can do to get my business going. I have tried sending out letter in direct mail and that never helped either. I am frustrated and I don't know what to do next
Thank you
